JVC TM-H1950CG Replacement Bezels

JVC TM-H1950CG Replacement Bezels

The JVC TM-H1950CG is easily one of the greatest CRT monitors ever made. It’s sharp, reliable, and has one of the sharpest shadow masks that makes retro games and old video content feel just right. A lot of people in the retro gaming community still consider it one of the best 19-inch monitors you can get your hands on.

But there’s one big problem: the bezels.

Almost every TM-H1950CG you come across has a cracked bezel. I've seen them show up with no bezels at all.

Since spare parts are non-existent, there’s no easy fix. Collectors and gamers are left with an amazing monitor that just doesn’t look the part anymore.

That’s why I decided to step in and make proper replacement bezels

Why This Had to Be Done

  • These monitors deserve better. They’re too good to be left looking broken.

  • Original replacement bezels do not exist. Unless you took one off a donor monitor.

  • Most 1950CG and 1900CG monitors I come across have this problem.

It wasn’t right to see such an incredible monitor let down by something as simple as a piece of plastic.

The Process

This wasn’t a quick “one and done” job. I spent a lot of time measuring, modeling, and printing prototypes to make sure the replacements weren’t just close, but spot-on. Every curve, every screw hole, every angle had to match so the bezel felt like it belonged on the monitor, and more importantly, FIT.

I was designing this replacement bezel based off an original one that was broken in 3 different pieces, one whole side missing, and all screw pillars gone. It took 3 months to get it right. Plus my printer is ultra slow, it could only fit one corner at a time and each took 8-9 hours to print.

After many, many prototypes and lots of adjustments, I was confident enough to pay to get a sample printed on a large printer in one piece. The final design was ready, strong, clean, and true to the original.

What’s Next

I am working on replacement bezels for the 1750CG and 150CG. These will be launched very soon.

These bezels are just the beginning. VsGravity is about keeping CRTs alive, inside and out. The electronics can usually be repaired, but the plastics are often what let these monitors down. By remaking parts like this, we can bring them back to their proper form and keep them looking as good as they perform.

The bezels will go on pre order on August 25th 2025. Since they are HUGE for any hobby printer, they require an industrial one in order to be printed in one big piece. This pre order aims to gather as many orders as possible so we can negotiate the cost down with the manufacturer to $129.99 including shipping.

As always, I am very easy to reach if you have questions or suggestions.
